IPMAT Verbal Revision Strategy
The Verbal Ability (VA) portion is a measure of both your pace of reading comprehension and your mastery of the nuances of the English language.
Reading Comprehension (RC): Revision should focus on Efficiency.
- Active Reading: After reading a 400-word passage, try to summarize it in three bullet points.
- Tone Identification: Update the list of common author tones (Pedantic, Sarcastic, Objective, Dogmatic).
- Answer Types: Distinguish between both direct question and Inference based.
Grammar & Vocabulary:

- Seating Arrangement: Circular and Linear seating arrangements are typically present. You should complete 5 sets of questions on each topic for every two days.
- Syllogism: Use a Venn diagram to solve these types of questions; Venn diagrams can help you visualize the elements present in the question
- Blood Relation & Direction Sense: These two sections are typically considered the 'easiest' in Logical Reasoning and to solve these questions you should utilize a set of standard symbols anytime you create a family tree.
- Coding and Decoding: You will need to review the numerical position of each letter of the alphabet and their counterparts in reverse.
Data Interpretation:
- Calculation Speed: You will need to be able to review fractions and convert them into percentages.
- Visual Analysis: Practice quickly reviewing the Bar Graph, Pie Chart, and Spider Chart without getting too caught up in all of the numbers of each chart type.
IPMAT Quant Revision Strategy
Quantitative Ability (QA) is the most common obstacle preventing your admission to the IPMAT bridging program. To prepare for QA, you need to focus on both the Short Answer (SA) section and the Multiple Choice (MCQ) section. The Short answer section has no options and no negative marks and requires you to answer with high accuracy.
Arithmetic:
In the QA section, approximately 40% - 50% of the Total Quant Section questions come from Arithmetic and Algebra. When revising Arithmetic, make sure you are reviewing:
- Percentages & Profit and Loss (4-5 Questions): Use “Multipliers” for quick calculation methods
- Ratios and Proportions (4-5 Questions): Revise Changes and Combinations

Strategies to Revise the Quantitative Section
20-Minute Drill: Solve 15 Arithmetic problems in 20-25 minutes every day to build Muscle Memory
Formula Sheets: Both mentally visualize formulas and Write Down Formulas. Create an Endsheet for Geometry Theorems and number systems, e.g., The Law of Cosine, the number of factors of a number, etc.
Do Not Use a Calculator Days: IPMAT Indore provides you with a Calculating on a computer, but the calculator is typically a very inefficient way to multitask. Therefore practice no calculator day at least during your initial days on how to do Mental Math without a calculator to save time.
IPMAT Mock Test Strategy
Taking the IPMAT Mock Test without a Strategy is a waste of time. Some of the mock test strategies for the IPMAT 2026 are mentioned below:
Two-Pass Method for Mock Test:
When you take the mock exam, never get stuck on any particular question for more than 2 minutes.
Pass 1 Sprint: Go through the entire section and solve all the easy and medium-level questions and skip all of the harder questions, which will take longer and be heavy on calculations.
Pass 2 Grind: Return back to all of the skipped questions that you know how to do but need to take your time to think about the solution.
Mock Test Schedule:
- 1 month before exam date: Two full-length proctored exams per week + Daily Sectional Exams
- 15 days before exam date: 3-4 full-length mock exams per week, taken at the same time as your actual exam so your body’s clock is in sync with the exam time.
- Analyzing Mock Exams: Spend at least 3 hours analyzing each two-hour proctored mock exam. If you got a question correct by guessing, consider it incorrect and reflect back upon the concept that has been tested.

How to Improve Accuracy and Reduce Negatives in IPMAT
On the IPMAT exam, marking schemes that include +4 marks for every correct answer and for every wrong answer deducts a -1 mark as penalty. Your score is based on how many questions you answered correctly, as well as how many you did not answer incorrectly.
Eliminate Options:
Do not look for the "Right" answer first, instead look for three "Wrong" answers. When you eliminate at least one answer option your probability of getting it correct goes from 25% to 33.3%.

Many students lose points because they read the question wrong. For example: "Which of the following numbers are NOT prime?" Always slow down and focus on the last sentence of the question; you can do this through the practice of "Mindful Reading".
