Question 97

Instead of dividing a number by 21, a student did the division by 12 and got the answer 35. What is the correct answer?

Solution

When a number is divided by 12 and it obtained quotient as 35, it means the dividend is $$12 \times 35 = 420 $$

Divisor 12 was mistake made by student. Correct divisor to be used is 21 and that will give the reminder 0

So,$$ \frac{420}{21} = 20 $$ as quotient and reminder will be 0.
