In the following questions two equations numbered I and II are given. You have to solve both the equations and
Give answer If
a:x > y
b: x ≥ y
c: x < y
d: x ≤ y
e: x = y or the relationship cannot be established

Question 90

$$I. x^{2}- 6x + 9 = 0$$
$$II. y^{2} - 11y+24 = 0$$

Solution

I. $$x^{2}$$ -6x+9=0

$$(x-3)^{2} =0$$

x-3=0

x=3

II. $$y^{2}$$ -11y+24=0

$$y^{2}$$ -8y-3y+24=0

y(y-8) - 3(y-8)=0

(y-3)(y-8)=0

y=3 or 8

Hence , x ≤ y
