In each of the following questions is followed by information given in three statements. You have to study the questions along with the statements and decide the information given in which of the statement(s) is necessary and sufficient to answer the question.
What is the speed of the train ?
I. Length of the platform is 150% of the Length of the train
II. The train crosses the platform in 25 seconds
III. The train crosses the signal pole in 19 seconds.
Clearly, each statement alone is not sufficient.
I & II : Let length of train = 100x
Length of platform = 150x
Let speed be s
Now, $$\frac{100x + 150x}{s} = 25$$
=> s = 10x
Thus, I & II are not sufficient. Similarly, I & III are also not sufficient.
I,II & III : We know s = 10x
Now, $$\frac{100x}{s} = 19 = \frac{100x}{10x} = 19$$
=> x = 19/10 = 1.9 and s = 19
Thus, all statements together are sufficient.
