Question 75

Two articles are sold for ₹2508 each. On one, there is a gain of 14% and on the other, there is a loss of 12%. What is the overall gain or loss percent to nearest one decimal place?

Solution

S.P of 1st article = 2508, gain= 14%

C.P = $$2508\times\ \frac{100}{114}=2200$$

S.P of 2nd article = 2508, loss = 12%

C.P = $$2508\times\ \frac{100}{88}=2850$$

Total C.P = 2200+2850=5050

Total S.P=2508+2508=5016

Overall loss% = $$\frac{\left(34\times\ 100\right)}{5050}=0.70 %  loss$$
