Sudha decided to donate 12% of her monthly incometo an orphanage. On the day of donation, she changed her decision and donated a sum of ₹4800 which was equal to 80% of whatshe had decided earlier. What is 27% of her monthly income?
Solution
Let her salary be x
First she decided to donate 12 % of her salary i.e. $$\frac {12}{100}x$$
Later she changed her mind, now decided to donate 80 % of what she has decided earlier, i.e $$\frac {12}{100}x*\frac{80}{100}$$ = $$\frac {9.6}{100}x$$
by the problem,
$$\frac {9.6}{100}x$$ = 4800
=> x = 50000
therefore 27% of x = 13500
