In a class of 50 students, 60% are boys. The average of marks of the boys is 62, and that of the girls is 68. What is the average marks of the whole class?

Solution

Number of boys = $$\frac{60}{100} \times 50$$ = 30

Number of girls = 50 - 30 =20

Total marks of class = $$ 30 \times 62 + 20 \times 68$$ = 1860 + 1360 = 3220

Average marks of the class = $$\frac{3220}{50}$$ = 64.4

So, the answer would be option b)64.4
