12 men and 16 women together can complete a work in 4 days. It takes 80 days for one man alone to complete the same work, then how many days would be required for one woman alone to complete the same work?

Solution

Given that

(12M + 16W) x 4 days = 1M x 80 days

=> 48M + 64W = 80M

=> 32M = 64W

=> 1M = 2W.

From the given data,

1M can do the work in 80 days

=> 1M can do the same work in 80/1= 80 days.

=> 2W can do the same work in 80 days.

=> 1W can do the same work in 80 x 2 = 160 days.

Hence, 1 woman can do the same work in 160 days.
