An article is sold at two successive discounts of 10% and 20%.If the selling price is ₹1080, then what is the marked price?
formula of successive discount =$$ d1 + d2 - (d1\times d2) \div 100 $$
= $$ 10%+ 20% -10%\times 20% \div 100 $$
= 28%
Let us consider 100 as marked price and
discount is count on marked price so discount
= $$\frac{28}{100}\times100 $$
Discount = 28
Selling price = 100- 28 =72 which is equal to 1080
72= 1080
1= $$1080\div 72$$
1 =15
So
100 = $$15\times 100$$
= 1500
So marked price is Rs 1500
