In a class $$\frac{3}{4}$$ of the students do not know either Hindi or English. $$\frac{1}{6}$$ of the students know English and $$\frac{1}{8}$$ of the students know Hindi. What part of the students know both English and Hindi?
Solution
Let say, total number of students = x.
So, number of students who knows both Hindi and English is =Â $$\left(\frac{3x}{4}+\frac{x}{6}+\frac{x}{8}-x\right)=\frac{18x+4x+3x-24x}{24}=\frac{x}{24}.$$
So, $$\frac{1}{24}\ of\ students\ knows\ \ Hindi\ \ and\ \ English.$$
D is correct choice.
