Question 48

By interchanging the given two signs and two numbers (not digits), which of the following equations will NOT be correct?
$$\times$$ and -, 27 and 35
I. $$27 \div 7 - 6 \times 5 + 35 = 53$$
II. $$11 - 7 + 35 \times 420 \div 27 = 93$$

Solution

I. $$27 \div 7 - 6 \times 5 + 35 = 53$$

After interchanging $$\times$$ and -, 27 and 35, a new equation is formed which is given below.

$$35 \div 7 \times 6 - 5 + 27 = 53$$

$$5\times6-5+27=53$$

$$30-5+27=53$$

$$52\ne53$$

The given equation is not satisfied. So this is not the correct equation.

II. $$11 - 7 + 35 \times 420 \div 27 = 93$$

After interchanging $$\times$$ and -, 27 and 35, a new equation is formed which is given below.

$$11 \times 7 + 27 - 420 \div 35 = 93$$

$$77+27-12=93$$

$$92\ne93$$

The given equation is not satisfied. So this is not the correct equation.

So both of the equations will not be correct.
