Question 45

What will come in the place of ‘?’ in the following equation, if ‘$$\times$$’ and ‘-‘ are interchanged and also ‘+’ and ‘$$\div$$’ are interchanged?

$$40 + 10 − 5 \times 4 \div 5 = ?$$

Solution

if ‘$$\times$$’ and ‘-‘ are interchanged and also ‘+’ and ‘$$\div$$’ are interchanged, then a new equation is formed which is given below.

= $$40 \div 10 \times 5 − 4 + 5$$

= $$\frac{40}{10}\times5−4+5$$

= $$4\times5−4+5$$

= 20+1

= 21
