Question 45

If $$+$$ stands for division; $$\times$$ stands for addition; $$-$$ stands for multiplication, $$\div$$ stands for subtraction, Which of the following is correct?
$$a: 25 \times 3 - 7 \div 8 + 12 = 18$$
$$b: 25 + 3 \times 7 - 8 \div 12 = 10.89$$
$$c: 25 - 3 \div 7 \times 8 + 12 = 132$$
$$d: 25 \div 3 \times 7 - 8 + 12 = 26.7$$

Solution

According to the problem,

a

$$25+3\times7-8\div12=18$$

$$25+3\times7-\frac{2}{3}=18$$

After solving the value will be decimal which is not possible.

b

$$25\div3+7\times8-12=10.89$$

$$8.33+7\times8-12=10.89$$

$$8.33+56-12=10.89$$

$$52.33=10.89$$

So b is wrong

c

$$25\times3-7+8\div12=132$$

$$25\times3-7+\frac{2}{3}=132$$

After solving the value will be decimal which is not possible.

d

$$25-3+7\times8\div12=26.7$$

$$25-3+7\times0.67=26.7$$

$$25-3+4.7=26.7$$

$$26.7=26.7$$

Hence, the correct answer is Option C
