Students are sitting in a row in which the position of X is 17th from the left and that of Y is 14th from theright. If they interchange their positions, X’s position becomes 7th from the left. How many students are there in the row?

Solution

Initialy from left 17th = X
from right 14th = Y eq-1
After Interchange X = 7th from left, ... eq-2

From eqution 1 total person to right of Y is=13

From 2 total person left of X (i.e left of y before interchanged)=6

so toal person=13+6 +1=20
