In a certain code language, ‘GUD’ is written as ‘31’, ‘PUH’ is written as ‘44’. What is the code
for ‘FAR’ in that code language?
Solution
We can get the number by adding the numerical value of the alphabet and subtracting '1' from the total, when arranged chronologically. A=1, B=2, C=3 and so on.
GUD $$\equiv(7+21+4)-1=32-1=31$$
PUH $$\equiv(16+21+8)-1=45-1=44$$
FAR $$\equiv(6+1+18)-1=25-1=24$$
