Question 38

Which of the following interchanges of signs and numbers would make the given equation correct?
$$18 - 3 \div 6 + 24 \times 12 = 48$$

Solution

Using Option A, we put them in the equation $$18 - 3 \div 6 + 24 \times 12 = 48$$,

$$18 \times 6\div 3 + 24 - 12 = 48$$

$$18 \times 2 + 24 - 12 = 48$$

$$ 36 + 24 - 12 = 48$$

60 - 12 = 48

48 = 48

Hence LHS = RHS

So option A satisfies the equation.

Option A is correct.
