Question 32

After interchanging which two signs will the value of the given expression be ‘356’?
$$133 + 49 - 16 \div 2 \times 34$$

Solution

Option (a) + and -

= $$133 - 49 + 16 \div 2 \times 34$$

= $$133 - 49 + 8 \times 34$$

= $$133 - 49 + 272$$

= 356

The required value is obtained. So this is the correct answer.

Option (b) - and $$\div$$

= $$133 + 49 \div 16 - 2 \times 34$$

= $$133 + 49 \div 16 - 2 \times 34$$

The required value cannot be obtained. Because it will give values in decimals. So this is not the correct answer.

Option (c) $$\times$$ and +

= $$133 \times 49 - 16 \div 2 + 34$$

= $$6517 - 8 + 34$$

=6543

The required value cannot be obtained. So this is not the correct answer.

Option (d) $$\div$$ and $$\times$$

$$133 + 49 - 16 \times 2 \div 34$$

The required value cannot be obtained. Because it will give values in decimals. So this is not the correct answer.
