Question 31

In a certain code language, 'ROM' is coded as '43', and 'ABK' is coded as '11'. How will 'PNB' be coded in that language?

Solution

The sum of the place values of the letters within the word is subtracted by three to obtain the code.

ROM ==> (18+15+13) ==> (46-3) = 43

ABK ==> (1+2+11) ==> (14-3) = 11

PNB ==> (16+14+2) ==> (32-3) = 29

So 'PNB' will be coded as 29 in that language.
