Question 29

A man travels from point A to B at 40 km/hr and returns from B to A at 60 km/hr. What is his average speed during the whole journey?

Solution

If u and v be the velocities of a man traveling from point A to B and returning back from B to A, then

$$=Average  Velocity  = \frac{2\times u\times v}{u+v}$$

Here, u=40km/hr, v= 60 km/hr

$$Average  Velocity=\frac{2\times40\times60}{40+60}$$

$$=48km/hr$$

Option C is correct.
