Question 26

In a certain code language, 'GOAL' is coded as '917314', and 'PBKS' is coded as '1841321'. How will 'HAMD' be coded in that language?

Solution

The place value of each of the letters within the word plus two is done to obtain the code.

GOAL ==> 7 15 1 12 ==> (7+2) (15+2) (1+2) (12+2) ==> 917314

PBKS ==> 16 2 11 19 ==> (16+2) (2+2) (11+2) (19+2) ==> 1841321

HAMD ==> 8 1 13 4 ==> (8+2) (1+2) (13+2) (4+2) ==> 103156

So 'HAMD' will be coded as '103156' in that language.
