Question 200

Among five friends A, B, C, D and E each running at a different speed in a race, who ran the second slowest ? E ran faster than only two friends. A ran faster than D but slower than B. B did not run the fastest.

Solution

E ran faster than only two friends, => E is the third fastest runner.

A ran faster than D but slower than B, => B > A > D.

B did not run the fastest, => C ran the fastest.

Combining above possibilities, we get :

$$\therefore$$ C > B > E > A > D

Thus, A ran the second slowest.

=> Ans - (E)
