650, 601, 565, 540, 524, ?

Solution

Let the Missing number be y

650 - 601 = 49 = $$(7)^2$$

601 - 565 = 36 = $$(6)^2$$

565 - 540 = 25 = $$(5)^2$$

540 - 524 = 16 = $$(4)^2$$

As we can see that for every two consecutive terms the difference is of the form $$(n)^2$$, where value of n is decreasing by 1 in every step.

So,

524 - y = $$(3)^2$$

y = 515

Hence option D is the answer
