What is the difference (in tonnes) between average demand and average production of the five companies taken together?
Solution
average demand = $$\frac{3000+600+2400+1200+3300}{5}=\frac{10500}{5}=2100$$
average production = $$\frac{1500+1800+900+2700+1500}{5}=\frac{8400}{5}=1680$$
difference = 2100 - 1680 = 420
so the answer is option B.
