If 1000 students are admitted in science, what is the ratio of students in science
and arts?
Solution
No. of students in Science = 1000
Angle subtended by students in Science = 100°
=> Total no. of students = $$\frac{1000}{100}$$ * 360 = 3600
No. of students in arts = $$\frac{120}{360}$$ * 3600 = 1200
Required ratio = $$\frac{1000}{1200}$$ = 5 : 6
(SHORTCUT) :
Ratio will be equal to the angle subtended by them at the centre.
=> Required ratio = $$\frac{100}{120}$$ = 5 : 6
