Question 145

A single persons takes 3 minutes to write a letter. If from 10 a:m. to 12.00 noon, 1960 letters are to be written, how many persons should be employed on this job?

Solution

Time taken by a single person to write a letter = 3 min

=> No. of letters written from 10 a.m. to 12.00 noon (i.e. 120 min) by a single person = $$\frac{120}{3}$$ = 40 letters

$$\therefore$$ No. of persons required to write 1960 letters in 120 min

= $$\frac{1960}{40}$$ = 49
