Paddy is the major crop of Hamirpur and has shown average productivity levels of 2.5 tonnes per acre. Hamirpur receives about 10 inches of rainfall in a normal monsoon year.
If in 2005, only 60% of the average productivity were attained, then the total paddy production of Hamirpur would be
Productivity = $$\frac{\textrm{Total Production}}{\textrm{Total Area}}$$
Average productivity = 2.5 tonnes/acre
Now, 60% of average productivity = $$\frac{60}{100} * 2.5$$ = 1.5 tonnes/acre
=> Total paddy production
= 1.5 tonnes/acre $$\times$$ 2 lakh acres
= 3.0 lakh tonnes
