Question 120

Expenditures of Company A in 2004 and 2005 are Rs. 12 lakhs and Rs. 14.5 lakhs respectively. What was the total income of Company A in 2004 and 2005 together (in lakh Rs.) ?

Solution

In the year 2004 for the company A :

Profit % = 50 %

Expenditure = 12 lakhs

Let income = Rs. $$x$$ lakhs

=> $$\frac{x - 12}{12} \times 100 = 50$$

=> $$100x - 1200 = 600$$

=> $$100x = 600 + 1200 = 1800$$

=> $$x = \frac{1800}{100} = 18$$ lakhs

In the year 2005 for the company A :

Profit % = 60 %

Expenditure = 14.5 lakhs

Let income = Rs. $$y$$ lakhs

=> $$\frac{y - 14.5}{14.5} \times 100 = 60$$

=> $$100y - 1450 = 870$$

=> $$100y = 870 + 1450 = 2320$$

=> $$y = \frac{2320}{100} = 23.2$$ lakhs

$$\therefore$$ Total income = 18 + 23.2 = 41.2 lakhs
