Question 12

There are three positive numbers- a, b and c. The average of a and b is less than the average of b and c by 1.
Quantity :
I. Value of c.
II. Value of a

Solution

Average of a and b is less than the average of b and c by 1

=> $$\frac{b + c}{2} - \frac{a + b}{2} = 1$$

=> $$(b + c) - (a + b) = 2$$

=> $$c - a = 2$$

$$\because$$ Difference between c and a is positive.

=> $$c > a$$

$$\therefore$$ Quantity I > Quantity II
