If the 8 digit number 136p 5785 is divisible by 15, then find the least possible value of p?

Solution

Divisibility Rule of 15

{Combine Divisibility Rules of 3 and 5}

• A No. is divisible by 15 if the sum of the digits of the number is divisible by 3 and the unit digit of the no. is 0 or 5.

Now,
Given, 136p5785 is divisible by 15
1+3+6+p+5+7+8+5= 35+p.

(Nearest multiple of 3 is 36.
•°• p= 36-35= 1)

•°• The least possible value of p is 1.
