The marked priceofan article is ₹800. A retailer buys it for ₹540 after getting two successive discounts. The first discount is 25%. What is the second discount?
Price after the first discount = $$ 800 - \dfrac{25}{100}\times 800 $$
$$\Rightarrow Rs 600 $$
Let secound discount = $$x$$
then $$ 600 - \dfrac{x}{100}\times 600 = 540 $$ (according to question)
$$\Rightarrow \dfrac{100-x}{100} = \dfrac{540}{600}$$
$$\Rightarrow 100 - x = 90 $$
$$\Rightarrow x = 10$$ % Ans
