After going 80 m from his house towards east, a person turns left and goes 20 m, then turns right and moves 100 m, then turns left and goes 60 m, then turns left and goes 120 m to reach the park. What is the distance between his house and the park ?

Solution

Let the distance between the person's house and the park = d

The given directions can be represented in the figure as shown below

From the figure,

d$$^2$$ = 80$$^2$$ + 60$$^2$$

$$\Rightarrow$$ d$$^2$$ = 6400 + 3600

$$\Rightarrow$$ d$$^2$$ = 10000

$$\Rightarrow$$ d = 100 m

$$\therefore\ $$The distance between the person's house and the park = 100 m

Hence, the correct answer is Option C
