IPMAT Rohtak Time Management Strategy

Surprisingly, many bright candidates perform poorly because they spend too long on difficult questions early in the exam and then do not have enough time to answer easier questions at the end of the exam.

The table gives the details about the IPMAT Rohtak exam pattern:

Time Suggested

Marks

Quantitative Ability (QA)

Logical Reasoning (LR)

Verbal Ability (VA)

Recommended Sectional Time Distribution:

The following allocation is recommended for balancing your time on the exam (there is no sectional timer):

1) Verbal Ability (30–35 Minutes): This is typically the quickest section of the exam. Quickly work through the 40 questions in this section, and focus on answering the questions that require vocabulary & grammatical knowledge before going to the questions that require reading comprehension skills.

2) Logical Reasoning (40 Minutes): The average amount of time to work on a question is roughly 1 minute. Also, if you work on a question such as a seating arrangement or puzzle, and you do not come up with an answer in 2 minutes, move on to the next question.

3) Quantitative Ability (45 Minutes): This is most likely to take the most time. To get the best mark in this section, concentrate on arithmetic (percentages, ratios, time, & work), as they tend to make up the majority of the questions on the Rohtak paper.

IPMAT Rohtak 2026 Last Minute Strategy

Lastly, these two days leading up to your exam will be about solidifying everything you already learnt; not about cramming additional information into your head; this 48 hour period prior to taking the test is primarily used to consolidate all information.

Two Days Prior to Taking Test:

  • Stop learning new material - By studying new material within the 48 hour period before taking the test, it is likely to cause confusion and erode confidence. Concentrate on what you already know.
  • Review your formula sheets for Quantitative Ability (QA) arithmetic, algebra, geometry and numeration systems.
  • Review error-log for all your Mock Test - Review the type of errors you made and try to catalogue the areas where you repeatedly made those same mistakes.
  • One light Mock exam (plan on doing section by section) -- the point is to keep your mind engaged with some kind of testing; you don’t need to focus on any results;
  • Sleeping both nights before test (7 - 8) hours; A lack of adequate sleep decreases the ability to work memory and slows the speed of problem solving.

24 Hours Before the Exam:

The table illustrates the tasks to do before the exam day:

Task

Time Needed

Revise key QA formulas

45 minutes

Skim through vocabulary/idiom notes

30 minutes

Recheck admit card and documents

10 minutes

Plan your exam day route and timing

15 minutes

Light exercise or short walk

20 - 30 minutes

Avoid social media and exam forums

All day

On the Day of Test

  • Allow yourself at least 2.5 - 3 hours to arrive to testing site
  • Breakfast (light/high protein- eggs, oatmeal, banana) Avoiding heavy meals (high in fats), as they will make you sluggish.
  • Never look at your study material; Let the brain to settle
  • Arriving at the test site early is going to provide time for you to find your seat, allow for time to calm down, and allow time to become acclimated to the testing centre.

What should I do on IPMAT Rohtak Exam Day?

Here’s the important things to do on the IPMAT Rohtak exam day

Pre-Exam Routine (Morning):

Wake Up Early: Set your alarm so you wake up at least 3 hours before 7:00 am (the time you need to arrive at the testing centre).

Hydrate and Eat: Have a light breakfast such as oatmeal, bananas or eggs; in other words, do not eat greasy food that will make you sluggish throughout your 2-hour test.

Get There Early: You should arrive at the testing centre by 7:15 am; you will not be allowed to enter after about 8:30 am (your testing centre may have a different time).

During The Exam:

Read the Instructions Carefully: Make sure that you read the 2026-specific instructions on the screen of the test regardless of whether you have taken any of the practice tests. The marking scheme may be slightly different than you expect (it will actually change every year).

Don't Panic if the First 5 Questions Are Difficult: If you have a lot of difficult questions at the beginning of a test, it does not mean that you will have a poor performance. All of the other test-takers will also have difficult questions. Move on and find the easier questions to answer (and you may revise them later if necessary).

Make Sure Your Fingers are Clean: Because you have to have your fingerprints taken when you are biometrically authenticated and your fingers should be clean (you should not have henna or any ink on your fingers) to ensure proper biometric authentication.

Post-Exam:

Return Your Rough Sheets and Admit Card to the Invigilator: Make sure that the rough sheets and signed admit card (if required) are returned to the invigilator.
