IPMAT Exam Preparation in 60 Days

Here’s the three-phase timetable to prepare for the IPMAT exam in a span of 60 days. The three phases will take the candidate from a basic foundation to practice IPMAT mock tests. The only thing candidates will need to be successful is consistency.

Phase 1 is learning the concepts of grammar, vocabulary & basic arithmetic. Phase 2 will consist of practising the questions by sections. In phase 3, the candidates will start taking full-length mock tests.

    Phase

    Duration

    Focus

    Phase 1

    Days 1-25

    Concept and Foundation Building

    Phase 2

    Days 26-45

    Practice & Strengthening

    Phase 3

    Days 46-60

    Mock Tests & Revision

Phase 1 - Concept and Foundation Building (25 days):

The first twenty-five days of your IPMAT study plan should focus on ensuring that you understand the concepts that are being taught. It is also very important in this phase that you understand the reasons for using the formulas and not about speed.

    Phase 2- Practice & Section-wise Strengthening (20 days):

The second phase is to strengthen your ability to use the concepts that you have learned to solve problems. In this phase, you should solve 40 to 50 problems from each topic and take sectional mocks to determine speed. You should solve previous year papers to understand the difficulty level of the exam.

Phase 3- Mock Tests & Revision (15 days):

This is the final phase of preparation for IPMAT. This phase's purpose is to take full-length mocks, analyze the mistakes made when taking these mocks, and to practice different strategies to take the exam.

    IPMAT 60 Days Section-wise Strategy

An excellent foundation should be laid out in a systematic way so that one can perform well in the IPMAT examination. Each section requires specific preparation to succeed in this exam in 2026. Here is a 60 days Section-Wise approach for IPMAT Exam:

    Quantitative Ability Preparation Strategy:

The Quantitative Ability is the easy-scoring section of the IPMAT, but it is also the most challenging section.

Establish a strong foundation: Go through all the NCERT Mathematics books from Classes 8 to 10. Build a strong foundation in the basic concepts before moving on to more advanced topics

Understanding the concept: For each concept, verify you have all the basic concepts and are familiar with how to solve problems in different ways, not just memorizing formulas.

Diverse practice: Candidates should practice with problems of varying degrees of difficulty, and include both concept-based and problem-application based questions.

Speed and Accuracy: Solve problems while using a timer. Work on mental math techniques to improve your speed in solving problems.

    Key Topics to Focus:

    • Arithmetic: Strong fundamentals are essential in this area. These are the areas that will generally give a high score yield.
    • Algebra: Work through different types of equations, modulus & inequalities.
    • Geometry & Mensuration: Visualize and memorize key theories and formulas required to solve the problems.
    • Modern Math: Understand the conditions and properties of permutations and combinations, and probability. These topics may come as a surprise.

Data Interpretation: While data interpretation does not have its own section, many of the QA questions will involve the use of data interpretation. You should also get comfortable interpreting graphs, charts, and tables.

    Verbal Ability Preparation Strategy:

Read a lot of different things: Read the English newspapers, popular magazines, novels, editorials, articles, as this will help improve your vocabulary, comprehension skills, and grammar.

Build Your Vocabulary: Try to keep a dictionary of words you have come across and are new to you, and also write down 5 to 10 new words each day along with their meanings, synonyms, antonyms, and how you would use them in a sentence. Also, note how to use prefixes and suffixes to help with learning new words.

Grammar: Review the basics of grammar (parts of speech, tenses, subject-verb agreement, parallel structure, common errors and so on), and practice giving example sentences that have errors/are incorrectly written, and then work on understanding/finding the rule of satisfactory explanation.

Reading Comprehension: Read carefully the Reading Comprehension (RC) questions to know the main idea and tone of the passage. Find the keywords and locate the relevant information quickly.

Para Jumbles: Develop an understanding of the flow of ideas, identify which sentences are the first and last, and look for connecting words and phrases.

Logical Reasoning (For IIM Rohtak IPMAT):

Understand All Types: Familiarise yourself with the different types of Logical Reasoning questions, such as puzzles, series, coding, blood relations, and syllogisms etc.

Practice Systematically: Start easy and work your way to more difficult, and focus more on patterns and logical sequences when you answer Logical Reasoning questions.

Diagram It Out: Diagrams can be a very useful tool to simplify the Logical Reasoning question at hand.

Time Management: Generally, Logical Reasoning questions are a time-consuming part. So, practice on your speed to find the best answer to every question as fast as possible with good accuracy.

IPMAT 60 Days Quant Preparation Strategy

Quantitative Ability is usually the part of the IPMAT exam that causes students the most trouble. If you are applying to IIM Indore, it has both multiple-choice and short-answer questions. Here’s the IPMAT 60-day Quantitative Ability section preparation strategy:

Prioritise High-Yield Arithmetic Topic: In the math section, 35% to 40% of the section is normally composed of questions about Arithmetic. If you can build a solid foundation of Time Speed & Distance, Time & Work, Percentages, Ratios and Averages, you will help yourself build a strong base to solve problems.

Strengthen the SA Section: Short Answer is a section where you will not have to worry about negative marking when you are applying to IIM Indore. You should practice TITA questions to better prepare for answering them.

Algebra & Modern Maths: Do not forget to consider long algebra problems that include matrices, determinants, and set theory. These types of problems are typically very high yield and could give you the edge over others at IPMAT.

How to Prepare for IPMAT in 60 Days

    Focus on the Important Topics:

Trying to cover the entire syllabus in two months could be very difficult. The solution is to focus on the main topics that give high yield. Use a portion of the time on other topics, but don't spend as much; this will make answering most of the questions on the exam easier.

Avoid Wasting Time on Difficult Questions:

Instead of focusing most of your time trying to solve the hardest problem, use that same time to answer as many of the easier multiple-choices and you can solve the harder ones when time allows.

Try to secure a minimum cutoff score in each section:

Be sure you monitor the minimum score that you will need to achieve to pass each section. Many students do well on the multiple choice math and language portion of the exam, but fail at the short answer math portion, thus preventing them from attaining the minimum score needed. IIM Rohtak does not have a sectional cut-off.

    Analyze Each Mock in Detail:

The analysis of the mock test is more important than the number of mocks taken. After attending each mock test, categorize your errors from that test, identify areas of weakness and try to re-solve the errors in the upcoming tests.

Is 60 Days Enough for IPMAT?

IPMAT exam preparation in 60 days is entirely feasible because of the following reasons:

Syllabus Overlap: There is much overlap with syllabus material for both the Quant aptitude element of the IPMAT and Class 9 & 10 Mathematics.

Aptitude-based and Key Similarities: Aptitude exams share several similarities with board exams. However, they focus more on speed and logical thinking, and performance in both can improve significantly with consistent practice.

Intensity over Duration: With an intensive amount of time put in for 6 - 8 hours each day for two months, you may actually be able to achieve far greater levels of preparation than over an extended (6+ months) period but inconsistent.

IPMAT 60 Days Preparation Plan 2026: Conclusion

Preparing for IPMAT in 60 days is possible if you follow a clear and disciplined study plan. Divide your preparation into three simple phases: learning concepts, practising questions, and taking mock tests. This will help you improve your Quantitative Ability, Verbal Ability, and Logical Reasoning step by step. Regular study and consistency matter more than studying for very long hours without focus.

To succeed in the IPMAT 60-day preparation plan, you need a smart strategy, strong basics, and proper mock analysis. Do not try to study everything at once. Focus more on important and high-weightage topics and make sure you clear the sectional cutoffs, especially for IPMAT Indore. Revise regularly, work on improving your speed, and learn from your mistakes in mock tests to increase your chances of getting into a top IIM.
