IIMB UG Selection Criteria 2026 OUT
Selection happens in two stages, and both matter.
Stage 1 starts with the online application form. IIMB UG Program then prepares a first shortlist of candidates who cross a minimum score in all three sections of UG Test 2026. One rule catches students off guard: your raw score must be positive in every section. A negative score in even one section removes you, no matter how well you did elsewhere. All later standardisation and selection applies only to this first shortlist.
Shortlisted candidates then get a pre-PI score built from their test performance, Class 10 marks and gender diversity. A fixed number of students from each category then move ahead.
Stage 2 is the personal interview, held in selected cities. Final admission offers are made strictly on the post-PI score.
About the test: the UG Admission Test is a computer-based test of 135 minutes with 60 multiple-choice questions. The Mathematics syllabus follows NCERT up to Class 12. The paper has three sections: Quantitative and Data Interpretation or QADI (30 questions), Logical Reasoning (15 questions) and Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (15 questions).
Two reference letters are mandatory. Your referees, preferably teachers from your school or college, must submit them online themselves before the deadline. The application cannot be submitted until the reference section is complete, and no extra time is given for it.

IIMB UG Fees
The official admission document does not mention fees, so these figures are from the previous batch.
The programme fee was around Rs 8.5 lakh per year, covering tuition, hostel accommodation and examination fees. Over four years that comes to roughly Rs 34 lakh to Rs 36 lakh. Mess charges are separate, usually Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000 per month, and laptop, books and personal expenses are extra. The application and test fee was Rs 3,000 for General, EWS and NC-OBC candidates, and Rs 1,500 for SC, ST and PwD candidates.
Fees can be revised this year, so confirm them on the official website. IIMB offers need-based scholarships, so do not rule out the programme only because of cost.
IIMB UG Eligibility Criteria
The IIMB UG Eligibility Criteria rules are short and strict:
- Age: not more than 20 years as on 1 August 2027.
- Academic qualification: pass in Class 12 or equivalent from a recognised board.
- Mathematics: you must have studied Maths as a subject in both Class 11 and Class 12.
- Class 10 marks: at least 60 percent.
- You must qualify in the national-level entrance test and clear the personal interview conducted by IIMB.
Keep these documents ready: Class 10 and Class 12 transcripts and certificates, a statement of purpose, your SC/ST/NC-OBC/EWS certificate if it applies, and a disability certificate with UDID card for PwD candidates.
IIMB UG Cut Off 2026 (Expected)
IIMB has published the cut-offs used for the previous batch (2026-30), based on UG Test 2025. These are your best guide for what to expect this year. The table lists minimum percentile requirements for the first shortlist.
Category | Section 1 (VARC) | Section 2 (LR) | Section 3 (QADI) | Aggregate |
General | NA | NA | 80 | 114 |
NC-OBC | NA | NA | 75 | 75 |
EWS | NA | NA | 75 | 75 |
SC | NA | NA | 70 | 51 |
ST | NA | NA | 70 | 50 |
PwD | NA | NA | 70 | 60 |
VARC and LR show NA because no separate sectional percentile was fixed for them, though you still need a positive raw score in both. The General aggregate figure of 114 is printed exactly that way in the official notification. Most importantly, IIMB UG Cutoffs state these were only the cut-offs for the first shortlist, and students who actually got interview calls had scored higher. So do not aim for the cut-off. Aim well above it.

IIMB UG Weightage
This is where students gain or lose the most, because the weights change between the two stages.
Pre-PI stage (out of 100):
- UG Test: 70
- Class 10 overall standardised score: 15
- Class 10 Maths standardised score: 10
- Gender diversity: 5
Within the 70 test points, Logical Reasoning carries 30, QADI 20 and VARC 20. LR has only 15 questions but the highest weight, so every LR question is worth a lot. Do not treat that section as filler.
Post-PI stage (out of 100):
- UG Test score: 40
- Personal interview: 40
- Class 10 overall standardised score: 10
- Class 10 Maths standardised score: 10
The gender diversity point is used only for the pre-PI score and is dropped at this stage. The interview alone carries 40 percent of the final decision, which means a strong test score is not enough on its own.
IIMB UG Reservation Policy
IIM Bangalore follows reservation for EWS, NC-OBC, SC, ST and PwD candidates as per the law. Shortlisting happens category-wise at both stages, and final offers are made separately within each category on post-PI scores. If you belong to a reserved category, upload a valid certificate with your application, since a missing one can cost you the benefit.
Two notes from the official document. Any dispute goes to courts in Bangalore. And this process applies to the 2027-31 cycle alone, so do not assume the same rules will carry over to later years.
If you are targeting this programme, start with Logical Reasoning and accuracy, because that is where the weightage sits. And brief your referees early, since your application will not move without their letters.

IIMB UG Selection Criteria 2026: Conclusion
The IIMB UG Selection Criteria 2026 gives significant importance to both the UG Admission Test and the personal interview. Candidates first need to clear the required sectional and overall criteria, after which their test score, Class 10 performance and other applicable components are used for the pre-PI shortlist. Strong performance across every UG Test section is therefore important.
For final admission to the IIM Bangalore UG 2027-31 batch, the UG Test and personal interview carry 40% weightage each, making interview preparation equally important. Candidates should also carefully check the IIMB UG eligibility criteria, important dates, expected cut offs, fees, reservation rules and reference letter requirements before completing the application.
