Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts an online examination to recruit Clerical Staff for various banks in India.

The banks that recruit through IBPS are:

Any eligible candidate, who aspires to join any of the Participating Organisations as a Clerk or in a similar post in that cadre, is required to register for the Common Recruitment Process (CWE Clerks -VI). The examination will be two tier i.e. the online examination will be held in two phases, preliminary and main. Candidates who will qualify in preliminary examination and shortlisted will have to appear for Main examination. There is no interview or Group Discussion.


Graduates in any discipline from any recognized university or any equivalent qualification recognized by the Government of India.

Candidates who are in the final year of graduation are not eligible to apply. The candidates need to have their marksheets while registering for the exam.

Age Limit

The age of the candidates should be between 20 years and 28 years, both inclusive.

Relaxation of age limit

The upper age limit is relaxed for the candidates belonging to the following categories.

Cumulative age relaxation, other than what is mentioned will not be allowed.


The IBPS PO examination consists of five sections.

  1. General Awareness with special reference to Banking industry
  2. English Language
  3. Reasoning
  4. Quantitative Aptitude
  5. Computer knowledge

Exam Pattern

IBPS Clerk Prelims is an online multiple-choice question (MCQ) examination of 1 hour duration. So, the candidates have to manage their time well
