Does JIPMAT have a Sectional Cutoff?

Yes, there is a section wise cutoff for JIPMAT and this is one of the most important -and often misunderstood -aspects of the JIPMAT selection process.

Unlike many entrance exams, where your overall performance determines whether you are short-listed, the JIPMAT Exam requires a minimum qualifying score in each of the individual sections of the paper. If you score really high in one section and low in another, that wouldn't suffice. You have to clear the section-wise cutoff in each of the sections along with the overall cutoff.

    JIPMAT Cutoff 2026

The cutoff for JIPMAT 2026 refers to the minimum score, both sectional and overall-that a candidate must achieve in order to be short-listed for and considered for admission to the respective rounds at IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya.

This is not a static cutoff that can be specified beforehand but would be decided by the number of candidates who appeared for the exam, the difficulty of the paper and the number of available seats at the institutions and the reservation guidelines.

    JIPMAT Sectional Cutoff

The JIPMAT sectional cutoff refers to the minimum marks a candidate should obtain in each of the sections of the paper to be eligible for rank based short-listing. Scoring below the sectional cutoff in any one section immediately disqualifies you irrespective of your overall score.

Why is section wise cutoff a feature?

The section wise cutoff is a filter to assess candidates holistically. IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya-both the premier institutes of the nation, offering 5-year Integrated Management Programmes-seek candidates who have an equal competency level for quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, and verbal communication. The section wise cutoff is a way to find these potential candidates.
