what is the age of the son?
Solution
Let's consider age of father as x and age of son as y.
Average of their ages $$ = \frac{x+y}{2}=22 $$
=> x+y=44 => x=44-y
Given that x:y=10:1 => 44-y:y=10:1
=> 44-y=10y
=> 11y=44 =>y=4
Therefore, age of son is 4years.
