The sum of the ages of a father and son is 45. Six years ago, their ages were in the ratio 10 : 1. How old will the son be after six years?
Solution
F + S= 45..... (1)
before 6 years
F -6 + S -6 = 10X + X
F + S - 12 = 11X........(2)
PUT ( 1) IN (2)
45 -12 = 11X
3 = X
X is the age of son before 6 years = 3
so present age = 3 + 6 = 9 years
so the age after 6 years = 9 + 6 = 15 years
