How many such pairs of letter are there in the word FORMATION each of which has as many letters between them in the word (in both forward and backward directions) as they have between them in the English alphabetical order ?

Solution

This question may look complex but is pretty straightforward.

Here, O and M has one letter between them in Alphabetical series and the given letter.

Also, O and N are sucessive to each other in backward in alphabetical series and forward sucessively in the word.

Lastly, F and N have a gap of 7 letters in alphabetical series and same gap in the word 'FORMATION'.

Thus, there are 3 pairs.
