Question 81

The sum of the squares of two positive integers is 100 and the difference of their squares is 28. The sum of the numbers is

Solution

Let the integers be x and y.
x^2+y^2 = 100
x^2 - y^2 = 28
2x^2 = 128
x^2 = 64
x = 8
Therefore, y=6
x+y = 8+6 =14
Therefore, the correct option is option C.
