Question 73

At present, Palash is three times Arnav’s age. After 7 years, Palash will be twice Arnav's age. What is the ratio of Palash's current age and Arnav's age after fourteen years?

Solution

Let the current ages of Palash and Arnav be P and A respectively.

So, P = 3A
After 7 years, Palash will be twice Arnav's age. So, P+7 = 2(A+7)
So, 3A + 7 = 2A + 14 or A = 7
Hence, P = 21 years

Arnav's age after fourteen years is 7+14 = 21
Hence, the required ratio is 21:21 = 1
