Solution

The series given above follows the below pattern.

6 = 2*2 + 2
16 = 6*2 + 4
38 = 16*2 + 6
84 = 38*2 + 8
178 = 84*2 + 10
368 = 178*2 + 12

Hence, the number which is wrong in the series is 178
