A man misses a train by 1 hour if he travels at a speed of 4 kmph.If he had increased his speed to 5 kmph, he would have still missed the train by 24 minutes. At what speed should he have travelled so that he reached the station exactly on time?
The correct option is B.
Since distance is constant so, time $$\propto$$ $$\frac{1}{speed}$$
Ratio of speed = 4 : 5Â
Ratio of time = 5 : 4 Â $$\Rightarrow$$ 1 unit = ( 60-24)min = 36min
$$\Rightarrow$$ 5 unit = 36 x 5 = 180 min = 3 hrÂ
Actual time = 3hr - 1hr = 2hrÂ
Distance = 4 x 3 = 12km
Actual speed = $$\frac{12km}{2hr}$$= 6 km/h
