Two pipes namely A,B can fill a sump in 25 minutes and half an hour respectively and a pipe C can empty 3 gallons per minute. All the three pipes working together can fill the tank in 15 minutes. The capacity of the tank is:
Let the capacity of gallon be x litres.
So , a/c to the question ,
$$\frac{1}{25} + \frac{1}{30} - \frac{1}{\frac{x}{3}} = \frac{1}{15}$$
$$\frac{30 + 25}{750} - \frac{3}{x} = \frac{1}{15}$$
$$\frac{-3}{x} = \frac{1}{15} - \frac{55}{750} = \frac{50 - 55}{750} = \frac{- 5}{750}$$
x = 450
SO , the answer would be option a)450 gallons.
