Solution

Let the efficiency of Ajay be 10 units per day
Then, The efficiency of Amit will be 170% of 10 = 17 units per day.
Ajay can do 10 units in 1 day.
Then, In 12 days, Ajay can do 120 units of work.
Hence, Total work = 120 units
Amit can do 120 units of work in $$\dfrac{120}{17} = 7\dfrac{1}{17}$$ days.
