Question 47

The sum of the ages of two cousins is 35. Ten years ago, the ratio of their ages was 2 : 1. What are their present ages?

Solution

Sum of the C1+ C2 = 35

10  years ago

$$C1-10 +C2-10 = 2X + X$$

$$35-20 = 3X$$

x = 5

age before 10 years is  2X , X = 10 ,5

present age is = 10+10 =20

                      = 5 + 10 =15
