Find the difference between the selling prices of two articles sold at 12.5% profit and 12.5% loss, if the cost price is Rs.400 each.

Solution

12.5% = profit℅

Let us consider 400 as cost price

profit

=$$\frac{125}{1000}400$$

= 50

Selling price will be ,

Cost price + profit = 100+50

S.p = 150

12.5% = loss℅

Let us consider 400 as cost price

profit

=$$\frac{125}{1000}400$$

= 50

Selling price will be ,

Cost price + loss = 100-50

S.p = 50

difference in their selling price =150 -50 = Rs 100
