Question 36

Suhas decided to donate 15% of his salary. On the day of donation he changed his mind and donated Rs.1,650/ which was 11/15 of what he had decided to donate earlier. How much is Suhas' salary ?

Solution

Let Suhas's salary = Rs. $$100x$$

Amount he decided to donate earlier = $$\frac{15}{100} \times 100x = 15x$$

Amount he donated = $$\frac{11}{15} \times 15x = 1650$$

=> $$11x = 1650$$

=> $$x = \frac{1650}{11} = 150$$

$$\therefore$$ Suhas's salary = $$100 \times 150$$ = Rs. $$15,000$$
