Instructions

In each of the following questions two rows of numbers are given. The resultant number in each row is to be worked out separately based on the following rules and the questions below the rows of numbers are to be answered. The operations of numbers progress from left to right.
Rules:
(a) If an odd number is followed by a two digit even number then they are to be added.
(b) If an odd number is followed by a two digit odd number then the second number is to be subtracted from the first number.
(c) If an even number is followed by a number which is a perfect square of a number then the second number is to be divided by the first number.
(d) If an even number is followed by a two digit even number then he first number is to be multiplied by the second number.

Question 33

8 16 16 14
13 11 12 144
What is the difference between resultant of the first set of numbers and the second set of numbers?

Solution

Considering the first set of numbers, 8 16 16 14
Using rule no. 3 gives
2 16 14
Again using rule no.3 for first two numbers gives
8 14
Now using rule no. 4 we get
8*14 = 112
Now for the second set of numbers 13 11 12 144
Applying rule no. 2 on first two numbers we get,
2 12 144
Now applying rule number 4 on first two numbers we get,
24 144
Now applying rule no. 3 we get
144/24 = 6
So the difference between the resultant of first set of numbers and second set of numbers is 112 - 6 = 106
