X can finish 25% of a work in a day. Y can do 12.5% of the same work in a day. In how many days, will both of them finish the work together?

Solution

X finished 25% in 1 day

So, X can finish 100% in 4 days

Y finished 12.5% in 1 day

So, Y can finish 100% in 8 days

100% means complete work

Both together can finish the work = $$\frac{1}{4}+\frac{1}{8}=\frac{12}{32}=\frac{3}{8}=\frac{8}{3}$$ = 2.67 days.
